British Backbone

When Argentina seized the Falkland Islands, they came face to face with the Iron Lady, and Maggie Thatcher never blinked. Instead, she sent her navy, her air force and her soldiers to liberate British citizens.

Argentina committed an act of war, and that's what they got.

On March 25 2007, the Iranians committed an act of war. They abducted 15 British Marines in Iraqi waters.

This time the HMS Cornwall was close by. A type 22 frigate launched in 1985 with modern weapon systems that is more than capable of handling most threats. In addition, the Cornwall was in contact with 2 American Carrier Battle Groups. That is enough firepower to sink the entire Iranian Navy and shoot down the entire Iranian Air Force.

Incredibly, they let the Iranians retreat to their ports.

In contrast, Tony Blair has spewed harsh words and sought redress through the United Nations. Twenty years earlier, the Iron Lady sortied into the South Atlantic without regard to anyone, including her strongest ally - the United States.

Iran wants a crisis.

I say let's give them one they can't handle.
